What's going on to Linux? I remember my first linux installs, that was some Fedora 5 in 2007 and then Ubuntu, don't remember exact version. They worked blazingly fast comparing to WinXP. They had shiny cool bells and whistles everywhere: wobbling windows, rotating cube desktops, windows transparency by mouse wheel, etc etc. I could play Windows game faster than in windows via Wine. And all that was on a crappy cheap PC with ~512 Mb of RAM and chipset built-in video. Now I have a monster PC with two Xeon E5 v4 CPUs, 64 GBs RAM and an RX590. Gnome is lagging and has no more those bells and whistles. On the same FHD monitor. Now I prefer hackintosh.
