Kodak tried once. They sold pigment based printers which had a very good quality and were way cheaper than regular ink to refill. Then they killed it after they filed for bankruptcy in 2013. The printer I owned saw a lot of use printing in a business setting and it had some build quality issues requiring a replacement every 9 months or so but they always replaced it under warranty with no major hassle. That kind of sucks but I’d still take that over any regular inkjet now. |
