| > only lobbyists of the corporations to get even richer, and corrupt politicians who profit from it. German here.
You might have the right conclusion but but the wrong fomula. Germany has been governed by conservatives for the last 20 years, which tried to stop renewables wherever possible because they got bribed by the big energy companies, who wanted to continue running their old plants, where no new investment impedes their profit margin. Plans to integrate the german and norwegian energy grid, to make use of their pumped storage? Canned because "a cable is no plant and the law says energy has to come from plants". Thousands of jobs in the renewable sector? Gutted, because of the "solardeckel", an artificial limit to capacity expansion to ensure big energy company profits. Potential for wind capacity? Lower than 10 years ago, because the conservative government wants to appease their primarily old voter base that find wind turbines "ugly".
So now you effectively can't build them in visual range of settlements anymore. Germany started out nicely with the "energiewende", it's just been torpedoed by the conservative government over and over again. Luckily the parties thst started it are in power again. |
