It pisses me off that hearing aids are so expensive in the US. The model that I wear costs around $3500 per ear. That's $7000 for both ears! I am "fortunate" (sarcasm) that I'm completely 100% deaf in one ear, and so I only need one hearing aid. Two would be insane. And most insurance won't cover any of it. So people with worsening hearing have to settle for off-the-shelf models from Costco or something, and they're losing out on a lot of life from it. I don't know how to fix this, but hearing is so important to having a vibrant and successful (and productive!) life that it rustles my jimmies that it's so prohibitively expensive... |
