I have seen at different zoom levels it uses different images.

Interesting I am seeing the plain version. Clicking on the 'layers' button, I see a bunch of things.

Solved (for me)

Clicking 'Global View' provides the interesting view.

For me as well, only appeared with the hard to find "Globe View" toggle.
