Web2 was never about privacy, it was the opposite. It was about monetizing what data/content people would give up for free. Decentralization has existed before web2 in BitTorrent but we don’t talk about that, do we? Like communism, it’s adherents will say real decentralization has never been tried, but, just like communism it has, and when it’s ideals face reality you get something very different than imagined. |
