I believe a lot of mod authors frown upon this for some reason.

Mod authors like having feedback and recognition on their own work, which might get lost if their mod becomes part of a whole big mod pack.

Yeah, but the end result is that I just never see their work at all. Seems a bit counterproductive to me.
