The author did not actually solve the problem at hand. Try the API playground[1] on the authors site. Its takes more than 1 secs for me to get a preflight response back. The preflight request hits fastly and aws apigateway and maybe the application well. There are lot of options to solve the problem at fastly and apigateway as I mention in another comment[2].
