Why Going to the Doctor Sucks (waitbutwhy.com)

An unfortunate behavior I notice is that, regardless of healthcare available, most people ignore their health until something is actually wrong. Then they have to go through the ordeal of finding a primary care doctor, getting recommendations, figuring out where to go and how to work the system, etc. People seem to expect everything to just work (1st world problems?) without adding in their own efforts. So, it doesnt seem to matter entirely about healthcare available as much as the patients interest in helping themselves.

Well, the country I live in has a single-payer system that is pretty good on paper. But other than the forms mentioned in the beginning, going to the doctor is equally shitty.

Here, doctors basically cannot be held accountable for anything, which leads to bizarre situations such as waiting for hours in front of their office. All the while you can hear them passionately discussing some football match, because they didn't close the door completely.

No matter the sector or organization, no amount of money and resources can make up for a sociopathic culture.
