Study math (linear algebra, geometry, calculus...) and statistics, in the pure form, then again realized in computer languages and visualized for communication in 2D and 3D with computer graphics, animations and compressed streams. And then again as realized in deep learning, how computer vision applies calculus to imagery, and how statistical reasoning and deep learning are siblings. This logical progression of math to building automated reasoning applications is eternal and will serve an entire career.
