Data structures, algorithms, fundamentals like how compilers/memory/operating systems work likely won't change, programming languages and frameworks are constantly changing.

Languages and frameworks are constantly “changing”, but are they constantly improving?

If they are generally following an upward trajectory, they seem worthwhile to track and follow, or even contribute.

If it is all just fashion, what is to be gained by being a “dedicated follower of fashion”? Might as well buy a lottery ticket.
