By not legalizing drugs the USA is directly responsible for the violence in Mexico.

Yes, and every American that purchases illegal drugs are fractionally but indirectly responsible for the deaths of 150,000 Mexican civilians. [1]

We should also remember this death toll doesn’t count civilians from other countries, such as Colombia, where narco violence has also had a terrible cost on civilian life.

If people could get drugs through regulated channels, cartels wouldn't even exist in the first place. Its the CSA that created the massive organized crime machine
Not sure if you're being sarcastic, but they're obviously not directly responsible for murders in Mexico unless they're pulling the trigger, which they aren't.
