Personally I don't think Satoshi is a single person. I'm pretty sure it's a group of people connected to the old cypherpunks usenet group and Adam Back is a strong candidate for the author of the paper itself and the person managing the Satoshi account. Back goes dark online when Satoshi starts posting, both use British english and a double space after each sentence. Back suddenly pops up again with expert level knowledge of bitcoin soon after the Satoshi account goes dark then founds a company called Blockstream specializing in blockchain tech. Plus Back has a PhD in distributed systems, has subject matter expertise in cryptography, is an experienced C++ programmer and invented HashCash in '97. The concepts behind HashCash underpin Bitcoin mining and HashCash is sited in Satoshi's paper. But that's just my two cents...
