Elections may be just a facade, but even authoritarian regimes keep a close eye on public opinion, after all most of them only came to power through public uprisings. Recently Russia found itself in such a dilemma while trying to impose strict vaccine passport regulation found that a staggering proportion of its electoral base (conservatives) were against it, meanwhile the opposition (liberals) were in favor. |
