I recommend gifting him the NFT of a breadstick instead, it will never spoil, and with that he will be able to show everyone that he owns a breadstick (somewhere). With that the possibilities are endless, other restaurants could use that to verify that he does, indeed, own a breadstick, and give him real breadsticks for free!
