I don’t think of it as being punished and don’t expect to be reimbursed for having paid back my loans and my spouse’s loans. The benefits of loan forgiveness or even providing free college tuition greatly outweighs the cost of what you and I had to pay for. Either way we are going to pay for it, directly or indirectly.
