The bulk of this thread doesn't match your description at all. There are comments about calendars, monastic lifestyle, even software used by the monasteries (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=29511744), and so on. Most comments that reference the social controversy aspect are doing so in a thoughtful way. In such a context, a comment like yours is flamebait even if your intention is to correct the record. Comments need to be much more thoughtful, factual, and neutral than that, especially when the topic is one that gets people triggered. As the HN guidelines say: "Comments should get more thoughtful and substantive, not less, as a topic gets more divisive." Making false assumptions about "woke mods" is already a sign that your comment was coming from a place of conflict, not curiosity. I don't mean that in a judgmental way—nearly all of us feel conflictual about these divisive topics. But we all need to learn to recognize that in ourselves and not let it drive our contributions here. |
