Growing pains; it reminds me of Twitter when it first started to gain traction and people started to use it enforce. I'm sure it will be down again but in time the techs will learn how to keep it up.
Yeah, but it's only started to enter the public conscience in the last year. Do they're just starting to understand scale.
But also, I interviewed for DevOps there and they only hire leet coders, so I suspect they're missing some of the fundamentals needed for a stable system.
Huh... I heard about it many years ago despite being far from the target market. But google trends seem to support them becoming a lot more known recently.
One thing I wonder about with something like Roblox is if the thundering herd is worse for them. I bet most kids will try to log in hundreds of times before giving up.
Not that I think companies have any obligation to share postmortems but Roblox said they would release one about the last outage and I don't think they have yet.
If they have another outage now, that may mean they haven't fully fixed the problem & may still be trying to figure out the full picture.
There have been major problems with systems I work on where the overriding priority is "get it running now however you can. Find and fix the problem after a little uptime givens you breathing room, and that cycle may repeat a few times before we can identify the root cause and find a solution.
