On topic - I suggest the following blog post series: https://acoup.blog/2020/09/18/collections-iron-how-did-they-... I learned a lot about the production and manufacturing of metal (iron) items. If I recall correctly, for iron production, a lot of people are involved in obtaining the fuel (wood, ash, charcoal) and not so many blacksmiths are necessary |
