I recall reading multiple threads here on HN in the last couple of months alone where people lost access to their Google accounts and only got it back because they happened to have a somewhat bigger following on Twitter or elsewhere. I think it's safe to assume that for each of these cases there are many others where the victims don't happen to be influential online personas and their cases just go unnoticed. |
