Overengineering is a non technical problem but of course most tech companies only interview devs on their technical skills. I've found is that once a dev has an idea of how something is suppose to work it's hard to get them to think in a different way about that thing. So when that thing doesn't work out for some reason they just keep adding exceptions and adding exceptions until you have the horribly over-engineered solution. |
