Technology Connections talk about Microwave tech stagnating, or even going backwards -

The Antique Microwave Oven that's Better than Yours https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UiS27feX8o0

It mentions lookup tables for the steam sensor, which fits for pre internet technology.

Though the tech may be different, it's a good example of how superior cooking tech like that described in the article may never reach the market. And if tech like that in the video, which is really just the same old microwave tech with evolutionary improvements to the sensing and control functionality, didn't make it, how will a revolutionary change like SDC fare? And even if it did make it, people would probably misunderstand and mistrust it. Would microwave popcorn have to come with a new warning? "Do not use the popcorn button on your microwave, unless it's using Software-Defined Cooking version 3.4.9 or later"?

Those who do not learn history are doomed to reheat it!
