And if tech like that in the video, which is really just the same old microwave tech with evolutionary improvements to the sensing and control functionality, didn't make it, how will a revolutionary change like SDC fare? And even if it did make it, people would probably misunderstand and mistrust it. Would microwave popcorn have to come with a new warning? "Do not use the popcorn button on your microwave, unless it's using Software-Defined Cooking version 3.4.9 or later"?
