If I want to read general news there are plenty of feeds for that. I think some great articles covering non-tech topics deserve to be on the front page, but stuff like you posted does not seem that remarkable.

also note that this is a very US centric view, I'm living in Europe and I have not heard much about this trial, nor am I extremely interested day-to-day politics in the US. Again plenty of great places to read and talk about north American politics, HN is more than that.
