The vitriol thrown at Gnome devs has always been a needed reminder that engineers are just as capable of falling for a surface-level and biased narrative as the average American. The fact that many of the Gnome maintainers still continue to develop the Gnome ecosystem is a bonafide miracle. The one grain of truth in this mess is that many diehard desktop users don't want innovation, they want the traditional 00s style desktop. MATE, Cinnamon and XFCE serve that crowd swimmingly so can we stop with the hate? |
