The major drawback of nuclear seems to be their large power output and long durability. Once you built the few plants you need (France and Sweden for example) you don't have to build any more for 50 or so years and then the manufacturing capability dies. Hoping for companies like NuScale, maybe they can get a continuous operation going and churn out cheaper and cheaper plants. |
