The strangest part of this dataset to me was tests being run using Daphne with Starlette, instead of Django. Unclear who would reach for that combo in production, since Daphne is meant for Django.

If it's ASGI compliant, there's no real difference.

Daphne is written to be a reference implementation of ASGI, not as a Django-specific server.

If you're using Django Channels in production you might even be better served by trying out Uvicorn, it's a lot faster.
