Building an app – new to startup world – where to raise funding?
4 points by atlasV 1694 days ago
I am an experienced developer, me and my team are finishing up a mobile app in a few months now. It would be fully prod ready and can scale internet scales.

I am new to start up and a bit of an introvert - no idea where to go to raise funds. Any detailed/nuanced guidance would be highly appreciated - thanks

Why do you feel like you need to raise funding? Do you have users today? Do you have a plan for getting users to try your app? Without knowing anything about your app or who your target market is, in general, I'd say you should first focus on getting users into your app and getting feedback on the value it's providing to them. At that point, if you need funding in order to scale, you can start down that path.
This is such a cliche answer! Ofcourse we know who the target customers are, funding would help in hiring and building more features. Thus increasing the value for the customer and the probability of success.
Do you have users? If not you only have assumptions

https://startupschool.org videos are a good place to start. They are also available on YouTube iirc

you mean to say all the pre-live pre-revenue startups are funded purely based on assumptions?
No, they typically have beta users and are already iterating on the product.

Be mindful that founders and their attitude usually count more than the initial idea to investors. Pretty much every product fails on first touch with real customers.

You've been quite snarky and/or arrogant here and that is a red flag.

haha you know nothing about me, how prejudiced! Feel free to wave any colour flag you please..

Not all have beta users, some raise pre-seed round before launch which is what I am trying to find out how they do it.
