Article discusses the high water requirements of growing avocados then goes on to talk about replacing them with pistachios—as if that a more sustainable solution. One kilogram of pistachios takes over 11,300 liters of water to grow. (https://healabel.com/p-ingredients/pistachios) The average avocado is 150g but even if we were being extremely conservative and said 10 avocados = one kilogram you’d still be at less than 1/3rd the water requirements of pistachios: 3,200 liters vs 11,360. What we really need to figure out is how to capture the wasted water from plants.
