I've heard of people stuffing non-human readable keywords (tiny font, white text, etc.) to bypass the automated systems

I read that that's one of the reasons sites started making you fill out their online form, in addition to uploading your resume. I've also heard of students using that method when they have a teacher who is a stickler about wordcount for assignments, and they are maybe 1-2 sentences short of the cutoff.
Essentially SEO tactics? I'm not surprised.
Why would anyone need to? I get called by recruiters 3 times per day, and I'm nobody special.

From your LinkedIn:

- You have two degrees, including one in an incredibly "hot" field right now.

- You've co-founded two companies.

- You were accepted into a Microsoft program as a student.

- You are quite good looking.

Ignoring your local reputation, that alone puts you in the top few percent of candidates.

Yeah I can get plenty of spam too, for jobs I don’t want…
