"We have not yet changed the definition of 'fully vaccinated.' ... We may need to update our definition of 'fully vaccinated' in the future", CDC director Rochelle Walensky.

The intention might be good, but these dubious tactics of constantly moving the goal post and shameless propaganda is working against them. Easy to see why people are hesitant.

Call me old fashioned, but I remember a time where this thing called "people's freedom" was a thing. Nobody tasked the Gov, CDC, WHO and others to "save the world".

Live and let live. If people are willing to take the 99,98% chance of surviving a virus, respect their choice. The rest can wear as many masks, surrender as many freedoms to their gov and take as many shots as they want. Their choice is also respected.

Hesitant? I think it's obvious by now that it's about money, power and control and not about safety.
If you were truly old fashioned you would remember how everyone took their polio shot and we eradicated that disease.

The vaccine is not about your supposed 99% chance of survival, it is about stopping the spread of a disease that has killed 740k in the US and counting.

The real disease is the freedom fundamentalism, or if we are really going to call it what it is: self centered selfishness, the complete breakdown of any sense of civic duty from the richest most entitled society on earth.

I think both you & GP share many similarities, the main difference being your perceived risk of COVID-19.

GP acknowledges the disease but concludes that, due to the high chance of survival, mandates are unwarranted.

You acknowledge the 99% chance of survival but conclude that, due to the high (and still growing) number of deaths, civic duty is needed.

At which point would GP perceive "people's freedom" as "self centered selfishness"?

At which point would you perceive "civic duty" as "shameless propaganda"?

The break point is somewhere above 100k excess deaths per year if we want to use the “it’s just like a very bad flu” argument, we are way past that.

So many deaths that could easily be avoided, so much economic pain that could easily be avoided too. Just look at the results in PR that has the highest vaccination rates in the nation. Vaccination works, it stops the spread, it’s not propaganda.

This is certainly not the first time a vaccine required a booster. I had to get boosters for various diseases as my immunity waned and the idea that anyone should be surprised that a virus we have all collectively watched mutate into something far more deadly would require a booster is ridiculous. Anyone who thinks this is 'moving the goal post' should stop trying to pretend they have anything to contribute to the discussion.

If these selfish people want to avoid a vaccine we can simply exclude them from our society, because if there is any freedom they must respect it is the freedom the rest of us have to decide with whom we will associate. Their presence is a danger to us all. I will respect their choice to not join the rest of us in the modern world of vaccinations and public health and I expect them to respect our decision to keep them at a distance. I also propose we respect their decision and allow them to die as nature intended, without taking up valuable ICU and hospital resources. Create covid hospices where these plague rats can gasp out their last breath with all of the freedom they desire.

Are there many vaccines that require boosters after only a few months? I'm not aware of any.

I got a tetanus booster a couple of years ago in response to an injury. Should be good for another 10 years.

By now it's plainly obvious these "vaccines" are not anywhere near the same level of effectiveness, they didn't understand what would happen "in the real world" and the vaccines don't actually prevent transmission or indeed serious injury or death.

So please don't pretend it's the same type of thing. That is sad justification for misplaced faith rather then adjusting world view to match current reality.

The rest of your post is just nonsense hate speech based on pseudoscience, wishes and political bias. An extremely disgusting authoritarian political bias at that.

Contributions like the parent comment make the Dead Internet theory feel very plausible.
Did you get your flu shot?
Too bad those people can spread it to others who have a lesser chance of survival even with mitigations. What’s to respect about that? If it only effected them, sure, do whatever. But it doesn’t.
