This isn’t correct. I’ve lived in UK, Australia, and Japan and all those places use 12 hour time.

Although in the UK at least, railways universally use the 24-hour clock, thereby regularly exposing a larger fraction of the population to it (in Australia a quick search seems to indicate that only NSW uses 24 hour time for its timetables?).
