I'd assume the type of person retail is targeting eventually loops around regarding computer-age.

Brand new can be a good proxy of someone that'll spend money, fifteen years out of date is less likely to spend frivolously, and thirty years old loops back around to retro. The people in the third group probably use the machine despite having something much newer, and implies a geek willing to spend on a hobby.

So maybe not worth their time, but it could be argued as helping draw in more people.
