Coincidentally, I just finished reading Under an English Heaven by Donald Westlake. It's the story of the British invasion of the tiny Caribbean island of Anguilla, and the invasion itself turns on an incident where a British diplomat (delivering more-or-less what the Anguillans wanted) humiliated the leaders of the 6000-person island, who in turn kicked the diplomat off the island, humiliating him. (If you're interested, the book is in the Internet Archive freely. It's hilarious.) |
