They have two use cases. You can use it to just click a link and close but the use case they go for is a full social media like reddit where the full features of an SPA make sense. Drive by viewers are probably lowest priority as they do not generate much revenue. They were forced to go down this path as it was clear reddit would add their own image hosting and remove the need for imgur so the site would have to be self sustaining. |
