I have an application I developed for a client starting in 2005 using Delphi 7; my VM is based on Windows XP, and the app worked fine on Windows 7 and is now used on Windows 10. I had to update one setting in an external configuration file for slight differences in the ADO driver, but other than that I haven't rebuilt the executable for years. I was genuinely pleased for the client as they are nice people running an essential service on a budget that is always under threat, and this result means not needing to pay for a silly 'fresh' version of the application. |
