You may be thinking of the YF-12, which was based off the closely-related-but-not-the-same-at-all A-12 precursor to the SR-71. Brag: I've actually seen a YF-12, up close, at Edwards AFB. NASA used them for testing for many years. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_YF-12 |
