The cat and mouse game that ensues from this are interesting. One of my family members is now taking a college class where the "book" is a really shitty web app that makes it impossible to view or print more than one page at a time. And there's protection underneath that makes it non-trivial to web scrape and iterate the pages.

This ruins stuff like searching for phrases and so on, and makes learning much harder.

Interesting. I can’t think of any incentives to counteract this. It seems we are slowly moving to a Right to Read future after all.
