For two job searches I did I made an "application tracking system" which kept track of the workflow for sucking in job listings, filtering out spam and duplicates, sending resumes and cover letters, interviews, etc. It even had a machine learning model to help prioritize listings for review.

I think the story of the ATS got me a job on the first interview for the first time, the next one took a little longer.
