Ask HN: How to manage remote development teams?

So Im struggling a bit, I'm now working with colleagues from the US from EU. We have a partner project with them but the thing is I kinda struggle to get a feel to work with them.

I do ocasionally have meetings with them, they record standups and I watch them, but how can I improve my involement and not feel like a outsourced resource or a freelancer. Because our companies still do the work together..

Are there some good to know things in general for this type of issue?

more frequent communications. join more standups: have a schedule with them. be more available mutually. what is the timezone overlap between you and the rest ?

So I finish work at 17:00 - 17:30 and their standup is in 18:15 my time...

Sometimes I say a bit late and join it but can't do it every day..
