Inside of similar-ish computer environments (CSound, SuperCollider, Chuck, PureData), these things have been known as "gens" (short for generator) for at least as long as [ EDIT: digital synthesis ] has existed (since it dates back to Max Miller and the origin of the MusicN language family). [ I edited it because I realized that VCO's actually go back to about 1910 ] |
