The question is "did it trigger hyperthermia" not "was the thing that caused hyperthermia 170 degrees". A bath does not need to be anywhere near 170 degrees to trigger the same level of hyperthermia since it is able to store and deliver heat much more efficiently than air (hence why 170 degree water would severely burn you). Remember your core body temperature need only change a degree or two to trigger strong responses from the body. After about 5 degrees you're into hyperpyrexia which is life threating. |
