Hi Kenny,

The motivations that you've talked about, learning or money and generating users, are these the only motivations when undertaking a side project? When thinking about a side project would you think about other motivations as well?

Is there room for undertaking a side project where the aim isn't learning or money and users but instead there is a motivation to improve how the world is, making lives better for people?

That's a great point. I think the difference I was trying to get at was between building for the sake of learning and building with the intention of the product being used by more than just you. But building for charitable purposes, or at least with the intent of helping others, is certainly distinct from any profit motive.
