Women's rights actually occurred in defiance of popular numbers by a vote. In the US, the same thing happened for integration of schools. You do, typically, need a majority of the voters to agree with you. In representative democracy that means you need a plurality of representatives. Candidates can and do lie. That is something you need to evaluate as part of voting for them. |
