It's not a matter of interest, it's that it has actually been the case that women are locked out of many high paying prestigious jobs, and software is/was the best available, where it isn't so prestigious. There was a time when women simply could not get an engineering degree. And so, someone might study math, and end up as a programmer whose job title was "engineering assistant" to a male engineer. |
