The definition of over engineered and under engineered is so poor that the comparison cannot make any sense. If code has lot of abstractions that are poorly designed, is that over engineered or under engineered? It seems like it should be over engineered but if we analyze it, it means an inexperienced engineer designed the system, or not enough time was provided, which suggests that it was under engineered. Over engineered would be something being way better than the required specs, but all the better parts are unneeded and unused. |
