Naive, but would love to hear from whoever is more knowledgeable if this is more an "enemy of my enemy is my friend" type situation, or these nations are building warm, long term relationships?
The warm, long term relationships are several decades old at this point. Russia/USSR has long backed Iran. Russia/USSR has long had at least a working relationship with CCP China.
