Total bed usage is a very poor metric for this. The bottlenecks here aren't total capacity, they are (in order of importance) 1. the number of vents, 2. the number of nurses with ICU level training, and 3. the number of ICU beds. The total number of hospital beds doesn't even factor in. Source: I am a physician. |
