Text notation is keyboard entry friendly, and version control friendly. Systems that support it will often render it to something that is more convenient for viewing, often as you edit or on save (e.g., there are VSCode extensions that render scores from LilyPond and ABCNotation; for LilyPond, there’s also support for navigating into the source from the rendered score.)
