I was going to suggest a zettelkasten but while reading this noticed the author namedropped "How to Take Smart Notes" by Sönke Ahrens*. Basically, when you take notes, summarize them in your own words. Look at a tool like Obsidian which uses markdown to save notes in plaintext.
